You have to admit that cats bring joy to our world. Some keep these fluffy felines as pets but when we heard about a family that owns around 80, we knew we had to pay a visit and see it for ourselves.
Natasha Nazli Shah, or fondly known as Tasha, comes from a family of five whose love for cats is immeasurable. Most of the cats are placed in a big enclosure that is a part of their home. It is complete with wooden platforms for the cats to climb and play, and even an elevated lounge area!
When asked how did her family manage to bring in over 80 cats, Tasha said the number of cats started growing about 10 years ago.
“This 4-month old kitten just made her way into the house. She warmed her way up to my dad and I guess that’s how it kind of started. So she became one of our first rescue cats. Then surprisingly more and more cats started popping by, I think maybe word got around,” she added laughing.
It spiralled from then on; the number of cats just kept on growing over the years — most of them come from the streets, some of them were pregnant when found, and some are unwanted litters that were left in front of her house.
Taking care of over 80 cats is definitely hard work; Tasha mentioned that it does get rough once in a while especially when she is busy with work. But of course, everyone in her family helps out and chips in financially as well to foster these cats.
“A lot of people tell you that animals love unconditionally; it’s true! Until you have one then you’ll realise that no matter how you are, they would just love you and appreciate everything you do for them,” she added.
The family has adopted more than 200 cats to date! With this family’s love, dedication, and commitment, we do hope their dream of creating a cat sanctuary similar to Cat House on the Kings will come true one day!
